Lake Tahoe Summer Camp Series - Lake Tahpro Camp (Ice Hockey)

Now in its 19th year, Pro Ambitions Hockey is a nation-wide ice hockey camp. Over 4,000 boys and girls attend hockey camp each summer at more than # Pro Ambition Hockey camp locations.

Pro Ambition was founded by former NHL player, Jeff Serowik (rhymes with heroic). Jeff attribute much of his successful rise to the NHL to the quality academic and hockey training he received while attending Lawrence Academy Prep School. Jeff played hockey at Providence College, graduating with a degree in finance. During his NHL career, he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins. in 2003 Jeff and his wife Christine, founded the non-profit, Sports Saves Souls. Its mission is to help children that are facing adversities out of their control, an opportunity to shine and strengthen their spirit through hockey.

Jeff, along with his staff, will host Lake Tahpro Camp at South Lake Tahoe this summer, for boys and girls from ten to seventeen years old. With a counselor to camper ratio of 5:1, or less, each camper can look forward to a quality training camp. Campers can choose between overnight or day camps.

Youth Backcountry Camp

This article is the second in the Lake Tahoe Summer Camp Series.
This summer, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association in partnership with Sierra Nevada Journeys will be offering four Youth Backcountry Camp sessions. Each session will be three days and two-nights long. These camps are intended to engage high school youth in a true wilderness experience and a service learning project on the Tahoe Rim Trail.

The TRTA Youth Backcountry Camps engage young adults between the ages of 13-18 who love the outdoors and want to learn more about backpacking, trail operations, ecology and outdoor leadership skills in an advanced wilderness setting.

Dates:
Session 1: July 13-15th
Session 2: July 16-18th
Session 3: July 19-21st
Session 4 (Latino Youth Backcountry Camp): July 22-24th
Several topics incorporated will be:
Map and Compass Orienteering
Leave No Trace: 7 Principles for Minimum Impact Recreation
Shelter building skills
Flora and Fauna Identification
Backcountry survival skills
Team building exercises
Leadership skills

Each camp has the capacity for 12 students and will be fully supported by TRTA and SNJ staff. The cost for the program is $99 (scholarships are available). Participants are provided with all necessary camping gear and food for the program. Participants only need appropriate footwear and a passion for the outdoors!
